Studio 63 Media has produced two special shows for Jubilee weekend.

A stand alone edition of Memory Makers features music that was well known at the time of various anniversaries marked during the last 70 years, for example The Queen’s wedding, the birth of her first child, previous Jubilees and the summer of 2012.

Secondly, a Residents Requests Jubilee special will be part of the Jubilee weekend Sound of Sunday featuring the staff and residents of Cherry Blossom manor choosing their favourite music and talking about their memories of The Queen and the Royal Family.

Both shows will be broadcast on Hospital Radio Basingstoke during the Jubilee weekend.  Memory Makers is also available as a syndicated show.

Studio 63’s flagship programme The Sound of Sunday has been noninated for an award at the National Hospital Radio Awards.  A programme trailer for The Sound of Sunday is shortlisted in the Best Station Promotion category.

It’s the second time a promo for the show has been nominated – in 2017, a promo for It Started with Swap Shop won bronze.

Presenter Neil Ogden has also been nominated for an award – in Best Male Presenter.

The awards are organised by the Hospital Broadcasting Association to celebrate the work of thousands of volunteers and the excellent quality of programming available to listen to on hospital radio.

The winners will be announced later in the year.

 

Studio 63 is entering the world of podcasts with an extension to its flagship show The Sound of Sunday.

The plan initially is to use “Extra Time” to continue Superman 1940s Style, which will finish on air due to the diminished audio quality of the episodes.  A new episode will be released at 4pm every Sunday from 16 May.  In the coming weeks, the podcast will be expanded to include extra content plus content from the 30 year archive of the show.

Extra Time will be hosted by Mixcloud and available via The Sound of Sunday website each Sunday afternoon at 4pm at www.soundofsunday.co.uk

 

A 30 minute show that will celebrate the music that is used by TV shows.

We’ll play well known and not so well known themes and music that has been made famous by TV programmes.

Each show will be 27 minutes and generic in content.  The series will be suitable for broadcast on hospital or community radio and will be available free of charge.

We are planning a full pilot to be released soon.

The HRB Community Hour will launch as a month show on Easter Sunday.  The show will be an hour long, and initially monthly as part of The Sound of Sunday.  Once established, it will aim to become a stand alone show.

The programme will feature guests from local charities, groups and organisations to promote what they do and how to get involved, plus as the country eases lockdown restrictions, events that they are looking to hold.

The show will go out on the first Sunday of the months of April, May, June and July.
